Wesley Eberle (b. 1978) is an American painter and sculptor based between London and the Greek island of Hydra, where he also hosts an artist residency.
Schooled in mathematics, Eberle’s work explores the space between figuration and abstraction and is characterised by thick, expressive brushstrokes, deep layers, heavy impasto, and a vibrant palette.
He addresses change, memory, and the multiplicities of self with figures depicted in a constant state of transformation. Rooted in the tradition of American abstract expressionism, his colour field paintings draw primarily on personal experiences and inspirations — visions of emotion and feeling.
He has participated in numerous exhibitions across the UK and Europe, and his work has garnered a devoted following among collectors throughout Europe, the United Kingdom and the United States.
His first major solo show was held in London in 2023 at the House of St Barnabas in Soho and featured eight large-scale oil paintings and one bronze sculpture, sharing the stage with solo exhibitions by esteemed artists Brian Eno, Helen Beard, and Alvaro Barrington.
His career in communications shapes his work and fuels his exploration of contemporary culture and the rapidly changing ways in which we perceive ourselves and the world around us.
