Kiafa House
Located in Kiafa, Hydra’s old town, the house stands high above the port with views of the sea and Peloponnese as well as the rugged mountainside of Mount Eros. Consisting of two buildings, the first dating to the mid-19th century and built of Hydriot cut stone and the second to the mid-20th century, the first challenge was to join the two different structures and then to modernise while also returning the entire house to the original character of 19th century Hydriot architecture.
Limited to 100 square meters, a floor plan was developed that included three bedrooms and two bathrooms, living areas, a modern kitchen, large terrace and an interior courtyard with a shower and Japanese soaking tub.
Traditional Hydriot architectural features were preserved, overlayed with modern design. All new features were designed specifically for the property, including poured concrete sinks and counters, marble tables, fixtures, and cabinetry. Sustainable design was employed throughout and local Peloponnese artisans were employed for fabrication.

L’Americano
Hydra, Greece
A new concept in the rapidly gentrifying landscape of the island, L’Americano was designed around Hydra’s musical heritage — a craft cocktail bar incorporating the attributes of a vinyl bar with flexible live music capabilities into an existing 19th century structure amidst the constraints of highly-preserved local architecture.
